What is a core class?

Our core classes, as marked above, use the same structure throughout. Our criteria is affiliated with the British Gymnastics proficiency awards and children in these classes are assessed annually during the Spring Term.

Children will also be able to take part in the Deerness Gymnastics Club Annual Christmas Display alongside other termly showcase events.

Whilst it is not mandatory to do a core class, we encourage children to do both a core and rebound class as we believe it further enhances their physical literacy, aiding from both floor and tumbling focused gymnastics.

Fundamental 1 we teach the fundamentals of gymnastics and ensure that all children develop confidence. Children will develop basic movement patterns such as hopping, jumping etc. Also rolling, balancing and using apparatus which is appropriate to their size and experience. It is essential that children have fun and develop the movements and coordination to enable them to progress to working on larger piece of apparatus safety and appropriately. As this is one of our core gymnastic classes, children will begin working on the British Gymnastics proficiency awards. Our main emphasis is on FUN and enjoyment!

Mini Spartans follows the same structure and gymnastics criteria as Fundamental 1, the only difference is... NO GIRLS ALLOWED!

Fundamental 2 utilises the same aims and criteria of that in Fundamental 1. As this is one of our core  classes, gymnasts will work towards achieving their gymnastic bands, affiliated with the British Gymnastics proficiency awards. In comparison and as this is an older Fundamental class, gymnasts will begin to focus on more difficult elements and use larger apparatus. Much of the focus is around flexibility, balance, strength and of course... FUN!

Spartan Warriors follows the same structure and gymnastics criteria as Fundamental 2, the only difference is... NO GIRLS ALLOWED!

Fundamental Rebound is a mixture of jumping, tumbling and agility! Focuses more on developing skills using the trampoline, fast-track and tumble track. Whilst the structure is the same as other core classes, the criteria is slightly different. As this isn't a core class, gymnasts will not work towards their bands. It is common that children will do this alongside a core class to get the best of both floor and tumbling, although this is not mandatory.

Spartan Rebound follows the same structure as other rebound classes, Spartan Rebound is boys only! Perfect for boys who love anything jumping, tumbling and rolling!

Foundation squad aims to really enhance your child's physical literacy through gymnastics and will focus on all areas of gymnastics. The main areas covered are flexibility, strength, balance and co-ordination. Less focus is around tumbling and jumping, which is why our Foundation Rebound class works perfectly alongside Foundation! No prior gymnastic experience is needed.

Foundation Rebound classes, gymnasts will do lots of work based on our Olympic standard trampoline, fast-track and tumble track. Children still follow our main structure alike with other classes, however the focus is slightly more aimed towards agility.

Intermediate is the perfect class for Pre-Teens & Teenagers from beginners to advanced, who want to keep fit and develop their gymnastics skills. Classes are geared to meet the individual needs of all who attend in a safe environment, with the enthusiasm this age group enjoys.

Intermediate Rebound classes, gymnasts will do lots of work based on our Olympic standard trampoline, fast-track and tumble track. Children still follow our main structure alike with other classes, however the focus is slightly more aimed towards agility.

Adult Gymnastics provides a new opportunity to try out an amazing sport, keep fit and socialise. There's also a big social aspect, which makes the sessions a LOT of fun. You'll learn basic moves and how to use equipment such as the trampoline and vault. You'll also learn about your body, your muscles and the way you move. As your strength improves, you can challenge and support your friends to increasingly impressive moves. Gymnastics can be adapted to be inclusive for everyone, regardless of your age and ability.

Whether you're looking to take your first steps into gymnastics or to get back into the sport, Adult Gymnastics makes it easy.
